How do I choose the right plan for my trip?

Match the plan to your trip in two dimensions: how much data you'll use, and how many days you'll travel. Buy slightly more than you think, because not every plan can be topped up.
Step 1: Estimate your data
Light use (maps, messaging, a few photos): 1–3 GB per week.
Moderate use (plus social media, occasional video calls): 3–7 GB per week.
Heavy use (plus video streaming, hotspot, working remotely): 7+ GB per week.
If your phone backs up photos to the cloud automatically, that can use significant data — worth turning off until you're on Wi-Fi.
Step 2: Match the plan to your trip length
Plans run from 7 days up to 90 days from when your plan starts; the lengths on offer vary by destination. If your trip is longer and your plan allows top-ups, a top-up extends both data and time; if not, you'd buy a new plan.
Step 3: Buy slightly more than you need
Running out abroad is annoying, and not every plan can be topped up, so it's easier to start with a buffer. A 10 GB plan for a one-week trip is a sensible default for moderate use.
